Town of Brentwood

Native Plant Network

Announces Open Certification

The Brentwood Native Plant Network announces its open certification period to have your yard certified. If you meet the criteria, the BNPN will provide you with an attractive yard sign, designed by a Brentwood artist, to place in your yard. The signs are sponsored by the town of Brentwood.

Eligibility requirements include:

1. Your yard must have at least 10 different species of native plants, and 2. Your yard must have at least 25 total native plants.

The plants can be a combination of trees, shrubs, and perennials.

Container plants can also count toward the two required criteria if you have a small yard.

We will be certifying yards through Sunday, October 8th, so there is still time to plant native species in your yard. If you want to see if your yard meets the criteria, send an email to greensbrentwood@gmail.com and indicate that you would like to be added to the yard certification list.

About the Network:

Our mission is to restore biodiversity to our community, volunteers and residents are working together to set up the Brentwood Native Plant Network. Volunteers will educate, encourage, and assist residents, apartment owners, businesses and our local governments with planting and documenting native plants on their properties.

2023 Holiday tips

How to Shop Safely Online:

Always place orders from a secure connection.

Know the merchant and their reputation.

Avoid offers that seem too good to be true.

If you are buying a Gift Card, read the Terms &  Conditions.

Don't use an e-store that requires more info than necessary.

Package Theft Prevention Tips

Provide delivery instructions.

Select a signature delivery.

Have packages delivered to your office if possible.

Sign up for delivery alerts.

Ask a trusted neighbor to help.

Keep purchases out of sight when shopping.   Place items in the trunk or concealed areas of your vehicle and do not leave them in plain view.

To help prevent a break-in of your residence, please ensure that all boxes and packaging are broken down and properly disposed of.  You do not want to alert thieves to your new purchases.

Lastly, always be aware of your surroundings.   Remember if you are celebrating the holiday season, please do it responsibly.  Have a designated driver, and drink responsibly.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
