If you are NOT a Brentwood resident or a Business in the Town of Brentwood, MD, there is a small fee of $5 dollars. A confirmed appointment will be needed during regular Town Hall office hours. The Arts District (City of Mount Rainier, Town of Brentwood, Town of North Brentwood, and City of Hyattsville) is seeking resident volunteers for the Arts District CERT. 

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during a disaster situation. Register and stay connected in your neighborhood!

TOWN CODE SECTION § 261-4 

REMOVAL OF SNOW AND SLEET

  • It shall be the duty of every person in charge or control of any building, whether residential or commercial or parcel of land located in the Town fronting or abutting on a paved public sidewalk, whether as owner, tenant, occupant or otherwise, within 24 hours after the ceasing to fall of any snow or sleet, to remove and clear away or cause to be removed or cleared away all snow or sleet from the sidewalk in front of or abutting on said building or parcel of land. When ice is formed on the sidewalk so that it cannot be removed, it shall be kept sprinkled with ashes, salt, sand, or like material. It shall be unlawful to fail, neglect, or refuse to comply with this section. 

  • Violations of this section shall be punishable as an infraction, with the fine set by the Mayor and Town Council.

Applying Energy/Water Assistance - Maryland Department of Human Services

Water service turnoffs have resumed. WSSC Water is urging customers to establish convenient payment plans or apply for financial assistance to prevent a turnoff. Don’t wait, call 301-206-4001 Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 7 PM.

 

Late fees have resumed on WSSC Water bills, except for customers enrolled in their Customer Assistance Program (CAP). If you need help with your bill, call 301-206-4001. Visit wsscwater.com/assistance to learn about their financial assistance programs. 

 

Customers can make arrangements to significantly reduce their WSSC water bills. Click here to view the program flyer in English and Spanish.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, was launched. This new number can be more easily reached by calling or texting 988, or chatting on 988lifeline.org.


Small Business Resources

During the pandemic, the County worked hard to support local and small businesses in Prince George’s County. Through various assistance programs, the County provided millions of dollars in grants to help businesses stay afloat and recover.

The Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) is accepting applications to assist homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage due to COVID-19 through the Maryland Homeowner Assistance Fund. Transportation ad Logistics Consortium

(TALC) Program

Homeowner Assistance Program

If you are a homeowner and struggling to pay your mortgage due to COVID-19-related financial hardships, assistance is on the way. The Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development will be launching The Maryland Homeowners Assistance Fund in late 2021 to assist homeowners statewide. To learn more, click here.


Living Well Chronic Disease Self-Management Program

The Health Department is offering free classes for residents who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes starting Wednesday, October 27. The Living Well Diabetes Self-Management Program is a series of self-management classes that meet virtually once a week. A variety of topics will be covered that support developing a healthier lifestyle and teach you how to partner with your healthcare team. Registration is required. Learn more here.

Federal and state energy assistance programs are available to eligible Maryland residents who need help paying their bills.

Fuel Fund of Maryland
