Climate Action

Sustainability is a key part of ensuring that every resident is healthy, lives in a quality neighborhood, and has the opportunity to prosper.

One of the Town of Brentwood’s goals is to help every Brentwoodian to thrive and succeed. Sustainability is a key part of ensuring that every resident is healthy, lives on a quality block, and has the opportunity to prosper. Building on the achievements made by prior mayors, councils, administrations, and committees, the Brentwood Climate Action will set a long-term vision for a sustainable Brentwood.

That work starts with an acknowledgment that not every block in Brentwood enjoys the benefits of sustainability, such as well-maintained sidewalks, safe and healthy tree canopy, access to food, or flood-free streets. We must do better, and the Climate Action Plan will prioritize work in neighborhoods where that work will be most meaningful.

Our vision also acknowledges and guides us to address the local impacts of the biggest environmental challenge of our generation: climate change. In our town, climate change will make our summers hotter and our winters wetter, and sea level rise coupled with the flood risks may put our infrastructure and community at risk. By cutting energy waste and investing in renewable energy, we can do our part to reduce these harms. Planning for the changes we know are coming must be a priority for Brentwood’s government, businesses and institutions, and residents.

Summer 2025, we expect to release the Brentwood Climate Action Plan. Stay tuned to learn what Brentwood is doing for you and with you, and how you can take action to prepare for and stay resilient in the face of climate change.

The Brentwood Climate Action Plan covers strategies and actions protecting: Buildings, Access around
